Loved this; the nice visuals, the quirky characters, the gay jokes and the characteristic Wes Anderson-ness. It's hard to pinpoint what exactly it is I love about his style. Probably the quirkiness, the whimsy of it all. In my opinion, you don't even need a great plot if you have that. But I also loved how funny and out-of-the-box the plot was in this one.

A former baseball player has to catsit for his punk neighbor. Pretty quaint premise, but the story soon goes off the rail as it turns out the punk neighbor was involved in some serious criminal shit. Our guy the baseball player is not much fazed by the maffia turning up at his appartment and keeps defending his neighbor of increasingly questionable integrity, no matter what. The whole plot is just implausible enough to be kind of bizarre but still they tried to cramp some sort of moral into it about taking responsibility.

Rewatching this, I realized I forgot the amount of body horror that's in here (yuck). On the one hand, I think this film did not age that well. It's become such a cult classic that the whole 'we-actually-live-in-a-dream-world-that-is-not-real' ordeal has become a cliché. On the other hand, I do love the whole 90s computer aestethics and the music. It's easy now to discard the effect this film had on its initial audience and criticize the lack of plot and character development (I mean, seriously, these characters are flat as cornbread). But sure, there's something to the symbolism. I do plan to check out more of the later work by the Wachowski sisters, because I loved Sense8 a lot.

Ik hou van vrouwelijke karakters die anders zijn, geen perfect leven hebben en een beetje falen. Emma was dat en bleef sympathiek. Hoewel ik tegen het einde bijna moest huilen vond ik het wel heel mooi, een besef van wat het leven het waard maakt om door te gaan.

Makes you think. The absurd, slow-paced plots seem to tell a story of nihilism. They are supposedly clichés, but the characters feel very human and the construction is such that the film seems to tell a different story from its parts. Hard to put your finger on. Does it tell us crime is bad? That coincidences happen or that there might be acts of God? That people have a conscience even in absurd circumstances? Who knows? Not me. But it did hold my attention and I'd like to rewatch in a few years, see what I can take away from it then.

Overhyped but there were some funny parts. Glinda is like one of those tiny dogs that is just always hypernervous but everyone loves them for some reason. Elphaba is a walking cliché. If you want a story about a misunderstood witch, I recommend Maleficent.

J'ai regardé ce film la première fois au cinéma quand j'avais environ huit ans. Je ne l'ai jamais oublié. Quand je l'ai revu, j'étais tant excité que je reconnais quelques de mes scenes préférés; comme quand Ernest s'enfuit de la ville de souris, quand Céléstine souffle un flocon de neige sur le nez d'Ernest et quand ils s'embrassent à la fin. Ce film restera toujours parmi mes préférés. L'amitié est si forte ♥

I absolutely loved this. The themes as well as the visuals. Just watch it, it's beautiful. (Also, update from June me to April me, we still haven't figured it out but we still love watching this dorky man.)

I feel like there's a lot this movie wanted to say but nobody knows what, exactly? It was nice and slow-paced and I like the idea of a bus driver scribbling poems in between the job. Interesting setup, but not much plot to speak of. The symbolism, for example the recurring twins, felt a bit forced and the meaning stays unclear.

Een vrouw die vastzat in haar leven, met haar baan bij de verzekering en haar slaapverwekkende man, vindt haar vreugde terug bij een oude homoseksuele man en de Franse cultuur. Ze laat haar angst vallen en durft eindelijk te dansen, jurken te dragen en haar lichaam te accepteren. Found family, queer thema en niet-conventionele verhaallijn en actrice. Wel tegen het zoetsappige aan.

Interesting how an unlikable main character still works. The show can be whacky but at the same time explores themes of depression, morality and the ability to change. I love Diane but am at the same time afraid of being like her. Todd is an inspiration; just doing quirky sidequests in the background. And gotta love the asexual representation, feminism, Hollyhock's eight dads and Mr. Peanutbutter screaming 'Erica' every 5 seconds. This show bummed me out sometimes but mostly stayed hopeful and now I'm just sad that it ended.

What if you can't bear it anymore and you just leave & return to where you started?

Would have been a better experience if the sound did not stop working every few minutes on youtube, which is unfortunately the only place I could find it. The fight scenes are nice. I think it's better than the American-made live action.

Very unhinged characters, mid acting, but it gripped me. The themes are connection despite differences and the pressure parents put on their children.

I'm gonna be so honest. I watched this basically for the David Bowie cameo. The rest of it was quite funny too.
